Back in the ’90s and early 2000’s, it seemed like people wanted to hear tons of 70’s then ’80’s music at every wedding we did, but then a funny thing happened: as current Top 40 began to feature faster tempos again, suddenly the majority of our weddings and events wanted to dance to lots of “today’s” hits!
For this trend, we can all thank (or curse, depending on your taste…) artists like the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake, and perhaps even more, artists like Kanye West and Flo Rida who decided to take Top 40 Hip Hop out of its rut and into a whole new tempo range. Again, love ’em or hate ’em, this is what’s going on on today’s dance floors, all at about 118-136 beats-per-minute!
