Raffi Reads Across America (well actually just in San Jose)
By King Raffi
In celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday and in conjunction with the Read Across America program, I was invited to read at Baker Elementary School in San Jose. The room of first graders were a great audience and made me feel right at home. From Green Eggs and Ham to One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, we were all reciting the lines together! They're all big Dr. Seuss fans!
While this wasn't a music type event, it was a way to promote the importance of reading at such a young age, give back to our local community and genuinely have a great feeling in my heart to see the little smiling faces so happy! I have to be honest - When walking out of the classroom, I was pretty choked up. I encourage you to volunteer at a school and read. You will walk out feeling pretty darn good!
