'Save The Date' D.I.Y. Style!
Our hearts were originally set on a destination wedding in Maui, but as it turned out we would be celebrating in San Francisco... and it was time to tell our friends. In deciding on our ‘Save the Date’ card we knew I wanted something unique...something romantic, something whimsical, something that you can’t buy in a store.
We spend countless hours on sites like offbeatbride.com, and google image searches for ‘unique invitations’ before we realized what we wanted would have to be designed from the ground up. We decided to start pulling the resources of my many talented friends to see what we could come up with. What was decided upon was a vintage inspired “Hawaii” postcard with a TWIST: A custom painted invitation by a close friend of mine and talented artist, Scott Erwert. (www.erwert.com).
We shared with Scott our inspiration of a Hawaiian destination wedding, and with a few pointers on what we thought the end design should look like, he was able to work his magic. The finished rendition was exactly what we wanted, and it was totally unique to the two of us. It was a welcoming announcement of the nuptials to come, set in our dream location, with a big red stamp that read “FORWARD TO SAN FRANCISCO.”
Sometimes when you want something truly special and unique, you’ve just gotta do it yourself!
