The Last Dance

The ceremony was heartfelt, the speeches were charming, the food was delicious and the dancing has been non stop: Now, how do you end the best night of your life?

The last dance of the night is a great way to add an exclamation point to the end of your wedding. There are many ways to do the last song and none are right or wrong. Below are some different options that have worked great:

Some people want to end their wedding with a very touching moment; almost as if they were dancing their first dance again, but this time with their friends and family. For this, have your DJ or band invite all the guests to join you two on the dancefloor for the last dance. As for songs, think of the second option you were going to use for your first dance that didn’t quite make it or perhaps a nice song that ties in with your honeymoon destination.

You, your fiancé, and your friends really are more interested in squeezing the dance party to the very end, so LET’S END ON A BANG! There are lots of ways to do this: pick a song that is almost an anthem that all your friends and family love to sing and dance to. I have seen similar “losing their minds” reactions from last dances varying from “New York, New York” by Sinatra to “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey and even “No Diggity” by Blackstreet. In the end, it’s all about what you and your guests love. One other thing to remember is that it is the last song of the night, so many of your older guests may have already gone home. Thus, you can err on the young side.

If you nail the last dance expect the guests to do the “ONE MORE SONG! ONE MORE SONG!” chants! For the advanced, plan ahead and do the “Last Dance” 10 minutes before your hard end time. Once the “Last Dance” song ends, have the DJ let the moment breathe and just hit them with a huge party track that you know everyone will love.

Congratulations - you just had the best wedding ever!
